Our ekotourist farm "Karczak" is located at the picturesque extensive fileds on the edge of the Biebrza Valley.
It is not far from here to the marshy hiking routes in the Biebrza National Park, smelling forests full of black berries, magic Jewish town of Tykocin, Tzar's fortresess in Osowiec-Twierdza and little villages lost at the Nowhere and to your own trip just straight on to the horison by bike or on foot, by canoe, raft or recreational dog sledding.
Our guests who are interested in stationary rest in the farm can breath deeply in the old fruit tree garden with traditional strains of apple and plum trees, looking for corncockle in the crops, listening to the frogs' concerts or watching partrigdes on the bounds. In the winter time we reccomend dog sled trips like in the far North! During the raining and cold days you can learn to weave traditional rag rug using old, wooden loom or to plaite colorful belts on the rigid heddle.
Our cottage - even if not very big - is charming (maybe this is the reason?). We did our best to conserve the climate of former cottage of Podlasie region and saved traditional architecture and details.
The house was built with wooden logs isolated with moss and the roof was covered with aspen shavings. The decorated porch and flower garden bring the momories of the childhood holidays at the grandparents' village. The interior of the cottage - even if recently refreshed - was conserved in traditional rural style of NE Poland.
The hot tiled stove is the heart of our house. You can cook on the fire or heat after the early morning walk. The wood present around makes the house cosy. The charm is cased by the numerous wooden and ceramic tools, formerly of everyday use, present everywhere. The fragrance of dried herbs calms the senses.
The house is surraunded by different shades of green: old fruit trees garden, smelling crop fields closer then the bound, colorful flower bads next to the porch, herbal patch, soft but little wild lawn, rustling forest on the horison.
We do our best to care about the nature around us. We ask our guests to do so too. It needs only a little trouble but brings big satisfaction! To save the environment we save energy and water. We reduce, reuse and recycle the wastes.
